Master the 2/1 LPC and 2/1 RPC Cable Stitches Without a Cable Needle

Learn how to work cable stitches without a cable needle (for right handed knitters.) There's no holding live stitches in your fingers or letting the float freely in the air! In this technique, we rearrange our stitches on the needle before working them. How to work the 2/1 Left Purl Cross (aka 2/1 Left Purl Cable, 2/1 LPC): To work a left leaning cable without a cable needle we'll slip all stitches through the back loops. Slip 3 stitches together through the back loops as if to purl through the back loop. Transfer 2 stitches back to the holding needle through the back loop, untwisting them. Transfer one stitch back to the holding needle through the back loop untwisting it. Purl 1, then one then knit 2. How to work the 2/1 Right Purl Cross (aka 2/1 Right Purl Cable, 2/1 RPC): To work a right leaning cable without a cable needle we'll slip stitches through the front loop. Slip 3 stitches together through the front loop knitwise as if to k3tog. Slip 1 stitch back to the holding needle through the front loop.
